Prayer Gathering

The Word of God states:

Even those I will bring to My holy mountain

And make them joyful in My house of prayer.

Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar;

For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

— Isaiah 56:7

and also

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

— James 5:16

Prayer is an activity, a practice, a plea made to God which all Christians, everywhere, ought to have as a part of their daily lives. We are commanded to pray without ceasing;

— 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

In Ephesians we are told that prayer goes hand in hand with the Armor of God, which we don when engaging in spiritual warfare. It is vital.

Yet, talk to any Christian, and you will likely hear how this is one of the most neglected areas of their walk with Christ.

With these things in mind, and the approval of the Pastor and Elders, beginning Sunday September 26, this sanctuary, made with human hands, will be a house of prayer.

Starting next Lord's day at 9:30 a.m and lasting until 10:15., you will be invited to gather with the saints, in the back corner of the sanctuary, for 45 minutes of focused, corporate prayer. This is not mandatory, but rather an opportunity for you to come into the Lord's house, lift up prayers and petitions to the Lord, and enjoy sweet fellowship as Sovereign King Church engages in warfare with the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Please do not view this as "well, I can't do 45 minutes, so I won't do it at all". Please, participate with a joyful heart as much or little as you believe you are led by the Lord. If you can only pray for 5 minutes, quietly, reverently join the group in prayer for 5 minutes. If you are a prayer warrior, you are welcome for the duration of the prayer gathering.

One cannot understate the benefits, the blessings, the joy, the camaraderie of going to war alongside brothers and sisters in Christ, and corporate prayer offers us a wonderful opportunity to do just that.

In general, should you decide to join us, you can expect to find us praying for:

  1. God's blessing upon our worship.

  2. God's Spirit to work through His ministers.

  3. The Holy Spirit to work within the hearts and minds of husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, parents, and children.

  4. We will pray for the sick among us.

  5. Prayers for our lost family members.

  6. Prayers for our leaders.

  7. Prayers for the preaching, teaching, singing, and offerings, that they would glorify God.

It is our heart's desire that this new practice prior to worship each week will foster a renewed reverence for our coming together, that it will transform our Church into one of vigilant prayer, that it will encourage us to be more prayerful in our private, daily devotion with the Lord, and that it will promote a Fear of the Lord as we come corporately into His presence on the Lord's day.
