Sovereign King Church is a Reformed, Evangelical, and Protestant church. But what does that mean?
Our faith is rooted in Scripture and shaped by the historic confessions of the church. Below are seven key focuses that define our confessional faith and guide everything we do.
-
At Sovereign King Church, Jesus Christ is our central focus—His gospel, His kingdom, and His reign. We boldly confess that Jesus is King—not just in heaven, but over all the earth.
He is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. All things were created through Him and for Him. Born of a virgin, He lived in perfect obedience to the Father, was unjustly condemned, and willingly laid down His life for His sheep. He died, was buried, and on the third day rose again, appearing to His disciples before ascending into heaven. Now, He reigns with all authority, and His enemies are being placed under His feet.
One day, He will return in judgment to make all things new. Until then, the Father and the Son have sent the Holy Spirit to build and guide the church, expanding Christ’s kingdom throughout the world.
-
At Sovereign King Church, we stand firmly on God’s Word as the supreme authority over all of life. The Bible is not just an ancient text—it is the living, unchanging, and authoritative revelation of God Himself.
We believe that all Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). It is infallible, inerrant, and always true. The Bible does not merely contain truth—it is truth. It speaks with divine authority on every aspect of faith and life, providing the foundation for how we worship, live, and engage with the world around us.
Because of this, we are committed to preaching, teaching, and obeying the whole counsel of God. We do not twist Scripture to fit culture—we conform our lives to Scripture.
-
At Sovereign King Church, we believe it is the duty of the church to clearly declare what it believes from the Word of God. Throughout history, the church has done this through creeds and confessions, which serve as faithful summaries of biblical truth.
We subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and we affirm the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. These documents are not equal to Scripture, but they provide a trustworthy guide to the fundamental truths of the Bible and help us remain grounded in sound doctrine.
As a confessional church, we do not hide what we believe. We encourage you to explore these rich theological statements (links at the bottom of this page) and see how they faithfully point to God’s unchanging truth.
-
No, we are not Roman Catholic. The word catholic means universal, referring to the one true church of Jesus Christ, made up of all believers across time and throughout the world.
At Sovereign King Church, we value unity in the body of Christ, both within our local congregation and with the faithful saints who have gone before us. We are not seeking to create something new—we stand in the path of those who have held fast to God’s truth throughout history.
This commitment to unity also shapes how we approach baptism. The church throughout history has wrestled with the question of who should be baptized. The Westminster Confession of Faith teaches that the children of believers ought to be baptized. Some in our congregation affirm this view. Others believe that baptism should be reserved for those who have made a credible profession of faith.
We do not divide over this issue. While we may hold different convictions, we are united in our confession of Christ, our commitment to Scripture, and our love for one another. You can read more about our statement on unity and charity in baptism below.

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, as revealed in Scripture alone.
At Sovereign King Church, we believe that nothing happens outside the sovereign will of our holy, good, and triune God. From the foundation of the world, He has ordained all things for His own glory, and His sovereignty extends even to the salvation of His people.
By His grace, God freely gives salvation to His people. Faith is not something we produce—it is the means by which we receive God’s saving grace, and even this faith is a gift from Him, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Our faith is in Jesus Christ alone—who lived a perfect life, laid down His life on the cross, was buried, rose again from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He reigns until He returns in glory. To God alone be the glory!
-
At Sovereign King Church, we believe that accountability and unity with like-minded local churches is vital. The church is not meant to stand alone but to be connected, supported, and held accountable by faithful brothers in Christ.
For this reason, we are a member of Evangel Presbytery, a fellowship of churches and church plants committed to holding each other accountable in both doctrine and practice. This means we are not an isolated congregation but part of a broader effort to proclaim the gospel, plant churches, and train faithful pastors to shepherd God’s people.
Through this brotherhood of churches, we labor together for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom—standing firm in truth and strengthening one another in the mission God has given us.

Christ’s rule is absolute—there is not one square inch of creation over which He does not reign. His commands are not just for the church, but for all people and all nations. God’s law is the standard—not only for the church, but for the family and civil government as well. Fathers, pastors, and political leaders are all called to obey Him.
At Sovereign King Church, we desire to see all of society live in obedience to God’s design. This includes men and women embracing their God-given roles and responsibilities.
Men and women are both created in God’s image, endowed with dignity and worth. However, God has ordained different callings for each.
Men are given authority to lead in the church, the family, and society.
Women are created to give and nurture life, serving as helpers to man in accordance with God’s design. Together, men and women may be co-heirs in Christ.
We also affirm that marriage is the first and primary human relationship, ordained by God between one man and one woman for life. One of its central purposes is to be fruitful and raise children, who are a gift from God—to be cherished, trained, and discipled in the ways of the Lord.

The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
