Why Sovereign King Academy?

In our nation’s public schools, the God of the Bible has been replaced with the gods of liberalism and worldly philosophies, which Colossians 2:8 warned us about long ago. It should not surprise us, then, that the vast majority of young people are falling victim to this rogue, godless enterprise. The type of thinking and indoctrination that was once reserved for higher education and academia has marched down from the ivory tower and into our children’s public school classrooms. It is in those classrooms that the work begins—eight hours a day, nine-and-a-half months a year, for thirteen years—disguised as education. It is the aim of this great government program to turn your children from your “antiquated” Christian moral foundation.

Most of us would agree, and have already determined, that it is time to do something about it, because to do nothing is to hand our children over to the enemy. Voddie Baucham articulated it best, “We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans." The time of passivity and wishful thinking is over. We know that we cannot neglect our God-given responsibility to train up our own posterity—the next generation of young, godly men and women—to carry on the faith and build the future.

But while knowing this to be true, many fathers and mothers have found themselves overwhelmed at the responsibility and task before them. Not knowing where to start, what material to cover, and fears such as lack of socialization and governmental interference have caused many well-meaning homeschooling families to stall out or give up.

We are here to come alongside you and help you succeed. This is why Sovereign King Academy was created.
Understand, however, that Sovereign King Academy does not aspire to usurp the role of parents in the spiritual or academic upbringing of their children. Parents, likewise, must not abdicate their familial duties by simply relegating this critical task to others. We are your partner!

We are here to come alongside you and help you succeed. This is why the Sovereign King Academy was created.

Mariah Adams:
Elementary School Instructor

Mariah Adams is a "Certified Elementary Teacher" with ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). She has homeschooled her children since her oldest started kindergarten in 2018. Prior to homeschooling, she taught in a preschool that emphasized teaching children to read well by building a solid foundation in phonics. This resonated with Mariah, and throughout her homeschooling she has prioritized learning to read well in the early years of elementary school.
Mariah is originally from a small, southwestern Indiana town but has lived in the Louisville area since late 2015. She and her husband, Jon, have been married since 2011 and have five children, three of whom are enrolled in Sovereign King Academy. Mariah is eager to invest in the families of Sovereign King Academy by helping to build the skills children need and teaching them how to grow in faith and godliness.
